Kate Had Trouble Getting Over Her Ex-Boyfriend Before William

"When Kate arrived in Florence, she was really hung up about Harry,” the anonymous schoolmate explained. “She spoke about him all the time and he seemed to have messed her around quite a bit.”

Apparently, Harry wasn’t as infatuated with Kate as she was with him. The source alleged that he toyed with the future princess’s feelings, and they ultimately didn’t work out, though there seems to be a time when Kate was hoping for a reconciliation.

"He seemed to have blown hot and cold with her when they were at school and she was always talking about how she could get him back,” the insider continued.

Eventually, Kate was wooed by Prince William, though the same source said she wasn’t necessarily impressed with his advances at first. "Prince William, he kind of expressed a bit of interest but I think Kate was still playing hard to get,” they explained. “He wasn't terribly sure if she was interested."

Ultimately, however, Williams’ persistence paid off. The royal couple tied the knot in 2011 and have since welcomed three kids, including second-in-line for the throne, Prince George, who they’re apparently already talking to about his future relationships and obligations.

Kate And William Broke Up In 2007 After A Christmas Argument

While William and Kate are often considered to be a picture-perfect couple, their relationship hasn’t been without its challenges. The couple apparently went through a rough patch in 2006 when William couldn’t spend the Christmas holidays, since only married couples were invited to the Queen's Sandringham celebrations, Daily Mail explains.

Apparently, William tried to make it up to Kate by suggesting they do something big on New Year’s together, but he apparently disappointed his future wife when he told her on Boxing Day he had to remain with his family.

Kate is stepping away from the spotlight to focus on her kids, much like her sister-in-law did a few years ago.

“William had been having second thoughts and sat down with his father and his grandmother to have a frank discussion about his future with Kate. Both advised him not to hurry into anything,” royal author Katie Nicholl wrote in her book The Making of a Royal Romance.

William’s decision to cancel their plans upset Kate so much that the couple were reported to have broken up in 2007. However, the split was short-lived, as the pair reconciled the same year, only to tie the knot four years later. William and Kate have been going strong (at least in the public’s eye) ever since.
